Vitruvian Woman, oil on canvas, 149x100cms (sold) "My specialism is in the field of contemporary figurative painting, where the intention is to portray the subject and setting as intrinsically 'of our own time', therefore conveying a depiction of modern life.

These ideas are expressed through the language of drawing and painting; which is fundamental to the way in which I work. It is the vehicle which I use to express the intimacy of a scene and which enables me to reveal something of the person and/or their environment, that would otherwise be lost.

This becomes a subjective process and requires honesty and sensitivity in order to elicit an aesthetic view of the figure in contemporary life.

The methodology I use is based upon traditional drawing and painting techniques and materials, but utilising modern advancements in mediums and tools. The exploration in this area is ongoing and provides an interesting conjunction when applied to not only oil painting, but watercolours, drawings and etchings."
